Today I picked up a true upgrade for my Power Tower Pro. In this case, it's a 450MHz G4. It's made me consider trying to get 10.4 running somehow, and by extension getting Halo to run really, really poorly for the sake of it.
Yesterday I managed to tick another box off on my list of things I eventually want. I scored some Mac OS 7.0 floppies in their original packaging. Sure, when doing refurbishing work I'll probably just use my emulator, but it's still nice to have these.
I can finally scratch another computer off of the "Mac models that make for collector pieces" list.
I finally have a mostly complete CUBE. It's all working, even the very dry-rotting speakers.
Thanks. And because I'm already invested in the mid 90s apple scene, I was able to just straight up connect it properly to my clone, and send over the 1.3 update. If only it could go higher than that. I also managed to find the only 2325 battery in my local area, so my 1MB card is now working...
Well, another one of my whales has been conquered. Finally found myself one of the more useless Newtons, and in mostly good condition.
There was also a 1MB SRAM card in there, which just needs a 2325 battery to get going again. I don't even know if Newton OS 1.3 can do anything, but hey. It's a...
Yeah, you're not wrong. Everything has gotten a lot less interesting and way more filled with things nobody actually uses. Hell my work recently had some severe issues caused by an accidental windows 11 upgrade.
I'm sorry to hear that. I'm lucky in that the only boxed copy of an OS my entire family had before this was a small DVD box for Snow Leopard. I do also have a boxed copy of 10.4.3, which I salvaged from the historic building that will be torn down for more apartments that I used to work in.
I finally have a boxed classic Mac OS copy.
Two, actually. I will probably still use my legacy recovery image more often, but it's always nice to have real copies available.
For once, it's not a mac (or IBM machine) that I'm showing off. this time it's just a mostly complete in box copy of Myst. Not any of the later re-releases either. Original, copyright 1993 Myst, complete with a previous owner's handwritten notes.
Have you by chance reset the CUDA yet? I recently worked on a clone that wasn't booting with a G3 upgrade card and after resetting that it suddenly started working.
All settings lead to it being green, and it is such a cheap CRT that it doesn’t have any form of on screen adjustment nor doesn’t it do 1024x768 at more than 60hz
Nevermind, the entire problem is the picky as all hell CRT that I have. Who would have known that a non-interesting dell crt would be so picky, while a generic HP LCD wouldn't be.
New problem after everything has been installed: I can't figure out why my monitor refuses to not be green at all times. I'm using one of those 10 dip adapters.
Thanks, The marathon problem might have just been having a PDS graphics card and a Nubus Graphics card going at the same time now that I think about it. I also don't have an HD-45 adapter, leaving me with just my aforementioned cards.
Today I managed to find myself a free floating G3 card, albeit one without the cables to allow for a proper HPV card to be used along side it.
I am thinking bout tossing it in to my 7100, but I was trying to figure out a few things before I did so. Is the bodge wiring visible in the top left of...
