    Pismo Airport WPA issues

:I :I  :I   :'(   Oh, dear. I was so very certain the AirPort card supports WPA2. I was also so very WRONG. WPA it is for setting up/administering the network.  It will, however, join some WPA2 Personal networks. The screenshot is from the G4 desktop/non-AirPort wireless I use to administer...

    Pismo Airport WPA issues

Oh dear, please don't tell my PowerBook Pismo/AirPort card/OS 10.4.11 that it "does NOT" support WPA2 Personal. It doesn't know that it doesn't. YMMV AichEss

Just Got: Apple iMac G3/600mhz (Summer 2001)

WEP only with Mac OS 9, and that is a limitation of the OS, not the card. There may be drivers to make it better but I don't know of them. WPA2 Personal with OS 10.2.8 and at least 10.4.11. Probably all pre-Intel. Native.

    Pismo Airport WPA issues

Is your router set up exactly like your GF's in every single itty bitty detail? You have the router wireless set to accommodate 802.11b? You have the correct wireless channel set? My Pismo will not/cannot configure the gen 5 & later Apple base stations. Incidentally the Apple AirPort...

    PowerBook 3400 crazy sound...

I fully agree with points 1 & 3. The PRAM battery placement is a design flaw, yes, but who'd a thunk anyone would be worried about it 18 years later. Point 2. I'm not understanding this. AFAIKT there's only one version of the PMU. Am I missing something here?

    Pretty Great Pismo Conquest

I used a generic Asian mSATA-to-PATA adapter to put a 64 GB Micron mSATA SSD in a Pismo. (The SSD from the 'Bay might well be a rip-off - say 50/50) I just basically assumed everything would work fine and it did. Initialized and partitioned the drive with OS 9.1 and installed the OS. The restart...

    Interesting IIc Find

Elfen, the first two versions of the IIc are 4000 model numbers. Neither has the logic board RAM board slot. Versions 3 & 4 are 4100 model numbers and both have the RAM slot.

OS 8.5 freezes while loading on a 9600

Take out all of the PCI cards you don't absolutely need. Reseat those that you keep. Reseat the RAM. Check all of the SCSI connections and keep connected only what you need. Make sure the SCSI bus you are using is terminated and the SCSI IDs are all different.

What am I trying to accomplish if I do this?

    PowerBook 3400c Solid State Drive

Thanks TheDoctor, thanks Byrd Took another tack. Partitioned the drive to less than 2 GB and tried an install of OS 7.6 from the original CD that came with the 3400c. Still no joy. Next step maybe will be to try to find an mSATA-to-IDE adapter different from the eBay generics.   Oh, well.

    PowerBook 3400c Solid State Drive

Still no joy. Found the startup sequence in the TIL. Vis ----- Step 5: System File Is Found and Opens When a valid System file is located, the System file, and any ROM updates are loaded into the system heap. Other managers are initialized. If this step is successfully completed, then the...

    PowerBook 3400c Solid State Drive

I've tried 32 GB & 64 GB drives so far, either whole or partitioned to 4 GB for the OS 9.1 install. The 64 is SATA III! Just got a new adapter to try; I'll let you know how it goes. In the Mac start-up sequence, what needs to happen after the "Happy Mac" appears; what does the computer do...

    PowerBook 3400c Solid State Drive

Trying to figure out ATA compatabilities A drive out of the 3400c is a 2 GB Travelstar DCRA-22160. The specs say it is ATA2 Fast/Enhanced with an external data transfer rate = 16.6 MB/sec A drive out of the Pismo is a 6 GB Travelstar DARA-20600. The specs say it is ATA/66 with an external data...

    PowerBook 3400c Solid State Drive

In a bit of experimentation I have been trying various SSD schemes in my PB 3400c.   Compact Flash cards in the HD spot with a generic Asian CF-to-IDE adapter work just fine as do CF cards in a proper PCMCIA adapter for that card slot. I have not been successful with an mSATA SSD in a generic...

    Emate 300 Memory

This is NOT the module for the memory expansion slot - it is OEM with every eMate.  The NewerTech modules do show up on eBay every once in a while and can be pricey. Its nice when a less-than-thorough seller lets an eMate go without knowing about an included treasure.

Manual PCMCIA Eject Circuit Board - Powerbook 3400c

I'm not sure of the APN although that description sounds right. Mine just says AMP Rev. 2.      And was your comment about your logic boards in response to the photos I posted or before them? The comment was before I saw the added photos. The pix of mine are to show undamaged area around...

Upgrading to 9.2.2 on unsupported PM7300 w/G3 upgrade

Echoing Macdrone - 9.2.x adds functionality only for running OS 9 in the Classic Mode under OS X. Apple says the upgrade path is OS 9.1 --> 9.2.1 --> 9.2.2 If you don't use OS X, why?
