Please have that engraved on my tombstone 🤣

    The Zigintosh SE/47 lives!

Yeah, whatever the glitch is, it really does seem to only impact the menu bar and drop-down menus - everything else has been smoooooth so far!

    The Zigintosh SE/47 lives!

Update: I’m very pleased to report that the suggestion from @nathall worked - installing ClickChange let me set the menu colors to their proper values! I haven’t tried it with ClickChange uninstalled yet (I quite like this app!) but it’s a perfectly good solution for me. Hooray!

Good tips - I'll see what I can do... Great suggestion - I'll give this a shot!

    The Zigintosh SE/47 lives!

I'm at the point where I think I've tried everything I can think of and/or what you've suggested: Open / close Monitors Control Panel + reboot Open / close Monitors Control Panel > Options + reboot Change color bit depth + reboot Menu bar and menus look correct in 1-bit (black & white) mode...

    The Zigintosh SE/47 lives!

How I'm feeling right now Good call! Once I finish tinkering with the hardware I'll give Test Drive a try  I do have a fresh/modern PRAM battery installed and the odd inverted-colors thing persisted after a few PRAM reset cycles. I'll keep playing with it but if anyone else has a...

    The Zigintosh SE/47 lives!

Hey all! It's now past 3:30am local time and I'm basically a zombie at this point, but I had to take a moment to share that after several hours of painstaking work, my Macintosh SE/30 has been almost hilariously upgraded: a new 4XDC power supply from @tt powering a tower of @zigzagjoe's...

My wife and I have adopted a 41-year-old baby named Lisa

Thank you! We really couldn't be more psyched. The list of truly historically-significant personal computers that we can't currently exhibit has gotten wonderfully small - if you know someone with an extra Altair sitting around collecting dust, please let me know 🙃 Hahah I've seen some...

My wife and I have adopted a 41-year-old baby named Lisa

I've been collecting Apple / Mac stuff (and more general vintage computer / gaming stuff) since I was a broke kid scrounging around at yard sales in the early 1990s, and I'm proud that I've managed to put together a respectable collection which includes both beloved classics and esoteric...

    Levco MonsterMac/OverDrive for 512k - advice/help sought

I do have a 512k with a MonsterMac! I'm not sure if the board is fully functional (it no longer shows the 'vampire' Happy Mac at boot), but the RAM upgrade seems to be working at least. @cj_reha - my MonsterMac is tucked away in my storage locker and I probably won't be able to get to it until...

iMac G3 ingests and immediately ejects CD's. Is the drive toast?

I had the same thought right after I started this thread! I popped my nice cleaning CD in there annnnnd it got trapped inside ☹️ Once the cleaning disc was in there, the drive started frequently making sad whining / whirring sounds - it was obviously trying to eject the disc but not getting...

iMac G3 ingests and immediately ejects CD's. Is the drive toast?

Hi all, I was hoping to install Mac OS X 10.1 onto an extra partition on my slot-loading iMac G3 (Blueberry, 350MHz, non-Firewire model). Unfortunately, every optical disc I insert is immediately ejected, without being "spun up" at all. This iMac and CD drive haven't been used in many years so...

Any fun/interesting apps or games to show off Mac OS X 10.1?

Hahaha damn, that's hilarious! I haven't thought about it in 20+ years, but I feel like I installed something that did that trick back in the day - maybe from a MacAddict CD-ROM?

Any fun/interesting apps or games to show off Mac OS X 10.1?

Hi all, I'm going to try to get Mac OS X 10.1 running on the Blueberry iMac G3 that I'll be exhibiting this weekend, specifically in the context of comparing it to NeXTSTEP (which will be exhibited on our NeXT Cube). It's been more than a little time since I last played with OS X 10.1, and I'm...

Levco MonsterMac with SCSI and lots of dirt

Hi again @mst3k! Curious if you ever got this setup working? I'm finally playing with my MonsterMac, but I've found a few oddities too: The very first time I powered it on, I saw the little squares under the Happy Mac icon which indicates the presence of the additional 2MB of RAM, but I've...

Anyone ever use a SCSI2SD with a Levco MonsterMac RAM + SCSI upgrade?

Hi all! Last year I stumbled across a rough-but-intact Mac 512k. I probably would've bought it regardless ($60 for an early Compact Mac these days is a decent bargain!), but I absolutely jumped on it when I saw that it had a "MonsterMac by Levco" sticker on the front, and a SCSI ribbon cable...

Apple IIgs flickering / fading video (and/or no video at all). Bad caps or something else?

As of now, the RGB monitor is probably the only component that I'm reasonably confident is working correctly, just based on the recent repair and calibration it's received. I noticed that the image on the RGB display flickered back to life for a moment when I pressed down on the IIGS...

Apple IIgs flickering / fading video (and/or no video at all). Bad caps or something else?

Hi all, I’m back with a few quick updates: I successfully recapped the IIGS motherboard yesterday. It was a challenging project for me, as some of the capacitors are tiny and packed pretty close together on the board, and the old solder was super stubborn and frequently didn’t want to come out...
