Okaaaaay, I think I found my issue. It's the fact that I didn't clean the board like I should have. The solder paste seemed to have stayed near the contacts where I applied it to for putting my components on, and I had to clean it off with IPA. Don't know if it works yet but I think this is the...
Okaaaaayy, I may have a suspicion as to why it doesn't work right now. At one point I had soldered on one of the two SN75175DE4 chips that was the only one surviving, and recently I removed it. Can't remember where I put the chip when I removed it and the second one was damaged because of...
If you'll please excuse the RAM slots (I got combined slots, and tried cutting them in half and ultimately screwed up), here's what my board looks like. Anything that I did wrong? I know it does need a good cleaning but I'm not sure what would be best right now. Yes, the SWIM is not installed, I...
So out of paranoia I replaced all the RAM muxes and a few of the logic gates, and now I get a black screen... I also don't get a little 'pop' from the speaker when I turn it on, so I suspect the power supply is going bad? I know I didn't do a full recap on that...
Thanks, guys. Right now I have almost everything on the board, and everything required to get the machine to start. Only problem? It has a horizontal B&W line pattern so theres a chip or 2 that might be dead. Are there any specific chips that cause the simasimac or this specific pattern to...
Thanks! I tested the paste I bought on a scrap motherboard's BIOS chip and as soon as everything went together I knew this was going to work beautifully. Obviously it won't look the neatest, but it seems like I can get this to work!
Also... wasn't there a fix for artifacting on these SE30...
Congrats on getting ahold of one of the greatest AIO macs of all time! I have 2 working eMacs, a 1.27GHz OC'd 2003 model running 10.4.11 and 9.2.2, and a 1.92GHz OC'd 2005 model running 10.4.11 and 10.5.8. Both of them are solid machines and I love using them!
WOW!! I mean, it's not too surprising since the 7447B actually seems to cap out at 500MHz over the chip's rated clock speed with overclocking and overvolting. Some of you already know I got a 2005 eMac to run perfectly at 1.92GHz with a vcore of 1.375V. And... it still works 4 years later!! You...
I feel more confident in soldering the PLCC chips directly. I got some better solder paste and I must say... it's much easier than installing PLCC sockets on EVERY chip! Just got the ADB chip and the 65C22s installed. May not look super even, but I touch up any bridges or missing joints as...
I just found out about this thread. I seriously envy you. I'm aspired to rescue stuff again, but every opportunity I have doesn't seem to work out. ;_;
I guess the fact that I paid $140 for one that required all of the caps to be replaced. Thankfully it was cleaner than other systems I've seen with more severe leakage.
