Ahhh. I was worried I'd start some kind of argument saying the stuff I did, but it appears that isn't the case thankfully. I too am someone who loves exploring the possibilities. Life's too short.
Me too. That's something I'd really like to see. That, and perhaps a better way to install a 2.5mm...
(sorry for the double post, just read this)
I feel your pain. I sold a tangerine for $40 locally back in 2020, I really wish I never got rid of it. That one actually worked.
I would be willing to potentially kill my 300 iBook for this; it's already quite a hackjob. I soldered on the smaller 2.5mm jack in place of the 3.5mm jack (power input) from a dead PowerBook's AC board when I was 15, because I didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for the charger. The rest of the...
I've actually taken on another project. I got some direct heat BGA stencils, and a 7447B chip from a dead iBook G4. The target machine is a 2003 eMac, and I had installed the giga designs firmware patch on it. I had swapped the 7445 for the 7447B that I reballed with 0.76mm 63/37 solder balls...
I'm actually quite glad to hear the manual drives will work fine in almost all auto macs, those drives are getting harder to find in working condition. But yes... there are definitely some caveats. I personally like the feel and sound of the auto drives, brings me back to when I got my first 68k...
From what it looks like the MDD speakers are 2 inches in diameter... so it might not be too difficult to find a replacement. Then again I'm not entirely sure on this...
Hello. I am looking for someone willing to dump the ROM of their OS 9 compatible 2003 model eMac. Yes, I know you can use the unsupported G4s image, but startup disk won't pick up the OS 9 system folder on OS X if you have one of these eMacs with the newer firmware. And there are ways to go...
I might actually have spotted a difference between the two boards but I don't really have access to a spare board anymore... I do like the idea of getting the FSB clocked to 167MHz though, as the 2005 iBooks only run at 133MHz for the 12" board and 142MHz for the 14".
1. Yes. However I didn't use the best caps... which could partly be my issue. I plan to buy fresh new ones from Digikey soon.
2. 10.5.8
6. Yes, and installing my Ti4600 actually got me further, but not to a point where the computer would work.
7. It should, many people have had success with...
Hello, recently I bought a G4 MDD tower and have switched out some capacitors in the PSU for new ones, but then I started having an issue where the system crashes every time I try to start it, and sometimes it will chime but won't boot completely (so it chimes, no video, no USB power). And...
