If it's dark, my guess is there's still a layer of stuff (carbon?) on it. Polish is not going to be abrasive enough to take that material off - you'll probably be sitting there polishing for a really long time. Might want to get a light sand paper (800 grit) and try a small area and see if you...

The 840AV on further testing wasn't working... it was failing to boot fully and sometimes wouldn't power on. I have since recapped the logic board, recapped the PSU, cleaned the logic board, removed the heatsink, cleaned off the old thermal paste, applied some new paste, put the heatsink back...

I guess I could try :) Next stop is 40MHz as I have an 80MHz crystal around here somewhere. I guess we'll see.

    Radius Rocket Compatibility

I had seen references in various threads on this board. Some I could quickly dig up: From this post: From this post: From this post: From this post: From lowendmac's review of the rocket: Seems like the PrecisionColor Pro series will get additional acceleration but I'm trying to...

Unlike retrobrite, the super glue will take off logos printed on the cases. It's surprising how fast it works.. 30 seconds and the un-yellowed original plastic shows through. All the texture is still there so it's a light layer being removed by the glue. Not really applicable but interesting.

If the area was already smooth, that's the end of the filling process, but if the area had some texture, I'll try (keyword here being try) to recreate the texture by knicking it with a rounded pointy object (tedious process). But note this filling only works because I usually paint the machines...

I normally clean the area, fill it with JB Plastic Weld, let it fully cure/dry, and then use sandpaper (start with 120 grit, go to 240, then 400 <- I stop here as I don't want a gloss finish) to sand it to where it's completely even.

I usually leave the little marks alone, treat it like patina. I just don't like orange level yellowing and cracks (for structural considerations) and big gashes, missing chunks, etc. The annoying ones are where large educational institutions carved their name/equipment # into the case, super...

Within those 30 secs, the acidic part of the glue took off the yellowed top layer. Not sure if I've seen this mentioned before. Note I have had IPA brighten plastics as well, but that's after scrubbing for like 5-10 minutes and only sometimes. I actually tried scrubbing with IPA to the right of...

I was supergluing a cracked corner of a case... the superglue was sitting on the case for about 30 secs when I wiped the excess glue off and noticed brightening. I made a test 'J' next to it, waited 30 secs, wiped it off... Hmm...

    Twiggy Mac Beep sound

Both the dialog notification sound and the beep sound (when you clicked outside of the dialog) are cool. Actually like it better than the one they went with later. And nice Steve Jobs icon too!

    Radius Rocket Compatibility

Agreed. Hoping people can weigh in with actual recent experience and better yet, why stuff doesn't work (if known). My guess is the population of folks with cards, using them, and checking this forum is going to be small, but I'm hoping with the new clones, that population is going to see an uptick.

Complete overkill based on what @zigzagjoe said, but decided to just finish what I started since it was already printed. With fan and retaining clip installed. Note that the angle of the picture makes it look like the clip extends beyond the nubus connector but that is not the case. No...

Ok thanks. Hopefully others who have tried this can chime in, perhaps folks with a PrecisionColor. Definitely crashes though with the 8*24 GC (with acceleration enabled).

What's crazy is that the edge of the adapter PCB that is over the Nubus connector actually perfectly rests on top of the connector plastic (no potential of short underneath either). It's almost like @zigzagjoe saw into the future and designed it perfectly for this application. :)

Good to call out removing the glass. The one thing to keep in mind as people do that is to be very careful as you handle the glass, specifically the connections that attach to it along the edges. If those separate (and they are very delicate), you will lose rows/columns of pixels and I have not...
