    Quadra 610 VRAM issue

I'd tell probably : either a faulty VRAM module or address line (bad trace) on the mac... Your 610 is "stock 25 Mhz" or overclocked?

Macintosh 128K board with custom 512KB upgrade

To use up to 1Mb of RAM the ROM should have been updated to 128k (Mac Plus), isn’t-it?

PB100 was working, then it wasn't

There is a 5A fuse on the logic board (on the right, narrow section. I had to replace it since it broke without any reason. I soldered a 5A automotive fuse in place.

840av nubus slot A works, but makes the system unstable...

Maybe dammage caused by old capacitors leaking (even if recap is already done)

HDI-20 to IDC-20 adapter for use with Floppy Emu

I made such a cable many years ago! It works flawlessly with my PB100s (I have 3 of them) and floppy emu in every modes (400k/800k/1.4M/HD20). I have the exact same problem with my 2300c. Even connected internally in the duodock it gives the same error. Sadly I don't own any 68k duo to try it...

    840AV dead PSU

As far as I remember I kept a small piece of the original psu circuit board tied to the chassis, the one on which the DC out connector is soldered. I then soldered some wires to the ATX circuit outputs. In the end, the mod is invisible externally, you just have to connect the original cable...

    840AV dead PSU

griverheart sent me a PM, I post it here so that everyone benefits ;) Sorry but I don't have any pictures and no time to disassemble my quadra for now... For the modifications I gathered in this file what I could find at the time. This should be enough to understand how to modify "soft power...

    840AV dead PSU

I had the same issue few years ago, my 840AV psu failed suddenly. I decided to swap out the internals from a good ATX psu I had on the shelf. I don't remember the +5V rating but it certainly wasn't 30A, more like 20 or 25 if I remember correctly (I threw away the ATX chassis of course). As Byrd...

Throwing 64K ROMs into a Mac Plus ?

That makes sense, thank you everybody!(y) I Thought It was possible cause I read this PDF file, at page 28 it states that it is possible to upgrade a Mac 512k to 1 meg with nothing else than DRAM chips, a 74LS138 and some passive components... The guy doesn't seem to have tested it by himself...

Throwing 64K ROMs into a Mac Plus ?

Ok so this implies that every third party memory expansion available for the Mac 512k at the time needed a Mac Plus ROM upgrade, I'm right?

Throwing 64K ROMs into a Mac Plus ?

Hi, I'm actually fiddeling with a spare Mac Plus logicboard I have. Sadly I don't have the original ROMs for this board. I also own a rominator board so I decided to use it. After burning the appropriate rom files (Hi & Lo) it works well. I then thought of an improvement : I always wanted to...

660 questions, possible 840 as well

It might be cache issues but 32 bits addressing seems more likely. Sadly AV macs can't do 24 bits addressing... That's why I don't use my 840AV as my "daily" mac, I use an accelerated (33Mhz 68040) LC 475 instead.

Force32: persistent 32-bit addressing without a PRAM battery (updates thread)

Hi, I thought of a different way to make the ideal init (for me) but except old Basic computers and Casio calculators my programming skills are close to absolute zero :( see here

Help : making a startup extension for 68k macs

Hi, since battery leakage is a real problem in old macs I thought about an extension which could restore the PRAM (and xPRAM for macs that have it) at startup. Yes "Pram auto restore" already does that but you still have to reboot once manually in order to validate certains changes... (32 bits...

Force32: persistent 32-bit addressing without a PRAM battery (updates thread)

Hi, I've been using PRAM auto restore for a while now, it's a great utility to avoid keeping a battery inside my macs! The only drawback is that I have to reboot once manually every time I want to use my mac since 32 bits addressing, mouse speed and other things need to be set before system...

    SCSI2SD Problems After Crash

    Should it be recapped?

I've heard Duos logicboards are timebombs... If one powers it with leaking caps inside -> little hope to make it work again even after recapping! I have a 210 I racapped years ago but... too late (it boots to the gray screen... when it boots!).

    Aiii. Ugly paint!

More seriously, You could try rubbing alcohol, I use it on dirty macs it doesn't harm, but never use acetone!! It melts plastics!!
