Is my Performa 475 killing the VRAM?

I donated my Performa 630 parts board to @micheledipaola a little while ago, maybe they can help you out with the DFACII? Are you getting the correct -5V on the MINUS5V rail btw?

@robin-fo yes it’s something interesting in the iMac trayloader’s firmware. I got to it purely by accident - I was dumped into OF due to an error and this appeared when I typed Mac-Boot. It almost looks like the beginnings of the boot picker GUI, which of course wasn’t yet implemented on the...

    croissantking's conquests

I’ve just liberated two ex-Bradford University 475 type machines, one is an LC and the other is a Performa. Both machines have stock RAM, VRAM and hard disks. The Performa is newer, and includes an Ethernet card. I popped in a battery and it came to life, but it would hang if it tried to...

Bombed LC475, can I reuse the on-board DRAM chips?

It’s 4MB onboard. @Bolle made the Reloaded PCB for the LC475, but your ASIC at U3 looks too far gone to save.

    Anyone refurb 400K Floppy drives?

😅 :ROFLMAO: I’ve serviced a few SuperDrives, are the 400K drives much harder?

So you're saying you'll refurb the guy's drives? Very generous!

Studying the Beige G3's Modem slot

The DVD decoder card (Bordeaux) doesn’t have an AIO video header, unfortunately, so you’ll have to settle for a Wings A/V.

Also maybe cost saving – and considered unnecessary with the Beige's built-in Ethernet.

Studying the Beige G3's Modem slot

At least on Version 2 of the Personality card, those lines are used by the USB chip. I suppose on Version 1 those lines are unused – were they keeping them in reserve for a future USB chip (or another I/O peripheral)?

Studying the Beige G3's Modem slot

I've been examining the Beige's Modem slot as I'm designing a peripheral for it. I put this image together which shows exactly which lines have been removed as compared to a standard Comm Slot II. It really does just have the bare minimum of signal lines required for a modem, but usefully all...

Overclock LC475/P475/Q605 without soldering or spicy-o-clock

If you've previously overclocked an LC475 to 33MHz by moving its resistors, do you have to move them back before you can soft clock?

    PB190 & System 7.1?

The Sound Manager thing makes sense. I think there's a good motive for patching this out in System 7.5, because it also causes issues with some accelerators. I wonder how deeply integrated it is into the System File - could be as simple as removing a specific resource if you're lucky. A 540c...
