Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
Perhaps the drive cannot vary its rotational speed. Only thing I can think of.
I’d love that capability. I have a SuperDisk that I got brand new with my iMac in 98. Just sits in its box waiting for a use…
If you read in the manual (which I also have), they would send you a copy of the original if your machine did not support their new color version....if you begged them!
My disks somehow became lost. I need to find a copy, too.
Here's my thought: these machines ran for 20+ years without battery explosions. It is not like there was some massive recall in the 90s because of SEs being rendered unusable because of battery explosions. If you put a new one in there, it won't blow tomorrow. It will likely be twenty years...
I had a feeling. If you don’t wind up needing it, I’d pay good money for the 2300c. The one I have had since it was new has needed a new screen for over twenty years!
You'd be surprised. Show us what it looks like. Years ago, I salvaged mine:

The easy, quick and dirty method:
1. Start your machine and listen for the startup chime.
2. Press Command-control-power key to restart the machine.
The memory test will be bypassed.
It was your hard work! I did take my time on my SE that was battery bombed and was able to get it going again. Also used evaporust for the chassis which I think I passed on. Stuff works great!
Best thing is just chill, live your life, and don't care about what others are doing (or are supposedly doing) around you. You worry about you and those in your immediate vicinity.
