Will this 2011 LG “Super Multi DVD Rewriter” optical drive fully work/be plug-and-play in my 700 MhZ G4 iMac?

If not plug and play, what’s the process to make it work, if any. Some sort of ROM reflash?

Depends on the OS version. By 10.4.11, most brands of CD/DVD-RW drives were supported well by the OS and/or Toast.

Oh ok. Great. So likely no rom issue. These aren’t like non Mac hard drives that (maybe?) need to be flashed (I think. Not sure. I feel like I’ve read that somewhere.)

Try it and see, you’ll find out pretty quick if you can’t boot from it, albeit it will likely mount media on the desktop. If it doesn’t boot, it is likely there are no firmware’s it’s just slightly incompatible. Replace with a Pioneer IDE unit which always works.
