    Portable draining battery

Doh, I must've missed that bit in the manual, sorry. Then again, I guess my Portable is working as it should and this is good news then... I must remember to disconnect the battery in the future (and keep a reminder to check it more often). My current main battery seems to have recovered (and...

    Portable draining battery

I knew the Portable's power management was bad... but I still find it hard to accept that it can literally kill a new lead-acid battery in a week? I had a peek on the owner's guide but it really doesn't warn one about this.

    TashTalk USB

I tested the new "Emulate a LaserWriter printer" option. Works, I don't know why I think this is so fun 🤓 I've never had printer on a classic Mac so perhaps it's just it. Thanks for adding this! On my System 8 machine, which I happened to have at hand, I used the built-in Laserwriter 8 driver...

    Portable draining battery

Hi. I bought a Macintosh Portable around 2012. I've since slowly been rebuilding it and whilst it's now looking quite nice (only a little broken plastic tabs around the rear cover) it STILL has issues with power/charging. I have previously washed the motherboard, replaced all caps and replaced...

    TashTalk USB

Thanks for the continuing updates! This might be completely silly thing to ask, but regarding printing: would it be possible to emulate a printer on the localtalk bus? Ie. the computers on the localtalk-side would see a virtual printer they could print to, and the output would end up as files...

    TashTalk USB

Thanks! I tried to reproduce the unstuff-problem but I couldn't, I might have deleted the offending archive already. I'll try to make note if it happens again.

    TashTalk USB

I bought one, this is a very nice product! I had couple of odd issues while trying to unstuff an archive on the shared folder, which after failing would also cause copying that file to a local disk to fail. Restarting the TailTalk service would solve that (ie. I could copy the file to local...

    Bernoulli Box Max BM105 Cartridge

Both Bernoullli and ZIP drives were used by 360 Systems on their Digicart audio recorders, I have one with a 44MB Bernoulli drive: The unit has provision to add internal or external SCSI hard disks, the 44MB drive can only record couple of minutes (in 44kHz stereo). I bought a NOS 44MB cart...

Griffin Technologies Mac·celerator Clock Accelerator for Quadra/Centris

Their website from 1997 gives a part number 0250-C61 and price of 55USD: https://web.archive.org/web/19970720010808/http://www.nashville.net/~griffin/accel.html

Griffin Technologies Mac·celerator Clock Accelerator for Quadra/Centris

Not sure how the special character between Mac and celerator will look once I post this, hopefully it won't break the forums 🤓 I found this on a local auction for 10 EUR and bought it. Actually not remembering that I had already replaced the oscillator on my Centris 610 but anyway... Posting...

    Laserwriter IIf

Yes the silicone blade sandwiches the metal on both sides, actually also a bit on the ends. I might try to revive this blade so I don't want to take it apart, but here are some sketches and a side profile which might help. Some of the measurements are a best-guesses as the rubber flexes.

    Laserwriter IIf

I'll have a closer look on another day (with caliper), but here goes: In mine it's pretty much spot-on 240mm in length, which happens to be the whole width of the metal edge. I'd say it extends about 7mm from the edge of the metal. The outer edge appears square and it looks suspiciously close...

    Laserwriter IIf

That's wild that the blade had totally disintergrated like that! o_O I went thru replacing the blade on another 95A cart on my NeXT laser printer: https://www.nextcomputers.org/forums/index.php?topic=5676.msg33915#msg33915 I still have the worn blade that I removed, if you want have some...
