External HD for SE/30 not recognized

OK, got this mac to recognize the external drive, had to change the jumpers on the hard drive itself. SCSI probe "sees" the external HD, but I can't seem to mount it (an 80 meg drive, typical Apple from back in the day) Any suggestions on mounting these drives? What program would you recommend...

SE/30 not recognizing internal floppy or any SCSI (internal & external/BlueSCSI)

Thanks, I'll give that a tone out and see if I have one, not sure how to check the SCSI chip though. Suggestions?

SE/30 not recognizing internal floppy or any SCSI (internal & external/BlueSCSI)

OK, the fail mac will boot from a floppy, but not from an external BlueSCSI, which will work fine with all the other macs. Sounds like it is time to rebuild the power supply...

SE/30 not recognizing internal floppy or any SCSI (internal & external/BlueSCSI)

OK, put everything back to the way it was, checked some loose caps, board, etc. So, with the fail SE/30, I now have the floppy working and can boot into system 6, no HD at this point. Attaching the BlueSCSI, the fail SE/30 hangs up at the disk image but without the flashing question mark. Will...

SE/30 not recognizing internal floppy or any SCSI (internal & external/BlueSCSI)

OK, latest test, swapped the boards around. In the fail mac, my working board doesn't work right, get errors, particularly "Disk initialization failed. because the disk is locked", the good mac board won't work properly in the fail mac machine. The fail mac board in the good mac chassis does...

SE/30 not recognizing internal floppy or any SCSI (internal & external/BlueSCSI)

ADB = Adrian's Digital Basement, he has a very useful tutorial for restoring floppy drives. bibillit, I do have another and will do a board swap and see if that gives me some ideas, checked the board under the microscope and didn't see any obvious broken traces, but I did not tone out all the...

SE/30 not recognizing internal floppy or any SCSI (internal & external/BlueSCSI)

Hello, been working on an SE/30, recapped the board and ADB'ed the floppy, and it worked for a while, but now it will not recognize either the floppy or HD, either internal or external. Originally, there was a lot of static noise coming out of the speaker, found that the LS166D chip had goo from...

I'm in the US, can you tell me what it would cost to get one of these? Thanks!

Color Classic analog board active devices, heat sink?

OK, just checked and the larger packer has no elements connected to the back tab, so it can go in with no insulation, just the big black heat sink connected with compound, the smaller one has its ground pin connected to the tab, so it too does not need a mica insulator.

External HD for SE/30 not recognized

I picked up a couple of external HD in enclosures, no name brand (seriously, I could not find a name anywhere on the case!), plugged them into my working SE/30 and, nothing, no drive found using scsi probe. I also picked up 6 good drives IBM and Quantum, and plugged those into the case...

Color Classic analog board active devices, heat sink?

Thanks, but unfortunately I had taken the analog board off a while back and don't remember if there was an insulator present. I did find an small insulator pad which I believe goes to the TO-220, but nothing comparable for the larger package. Also, both use a clip to attach to the metal shield...

Color Classic analog board active devices, heat sink?

Been rebuilding a fairly nasty board, no real damage but rust, dirt, and corrosion. I removed the square box shield that is near the back end with all the pots to clean it up and there are two packages, one a typical TO-220, and the second a larger package, both had heat sink compound on them...

Performa 575 software restore on bluescsi

OK, figured this weird problem out. If the 575 CD is in, the computer boots from that, once I removed the CD, the computer now boots from the bluescsi fine. Could never get the software from the CD to install, so hand moved the files over to the Bscsi and it works fine now. Thanks!
