Fixed it! It was a broken via between UD8 and the video ROM on address line 0. It also fixed the sound issue :D

The ASC chip is toast.

I forgot to mention something ; when I remove the ROM, the Simasimac pattern is normal, no vertical lines !

I don’t remember how many pins, or which ones, were not making good contact. But it depends — I’ve already had a broken trace between an address line on the ROM and the sound chip; the machine booted just fine, but the sound was messed up.

I didn't read all your diagnostics, but did you try to tighten the pins of the ROM slot? I’ve already had this issue.

My goal is to transplant an Apple IIc monitor's CRT into a Macintosh Classic, just like Adrian Black did in his video, with these particular spacers. So why wouldn't it work?

The board is clean and has been recapped. I already replaced all the SMD video chips (F253, LS166, and LS393), but no luck. The picture is from an SE/30 listed on eBay, which has the exact same issue. Any idea? To me, the video circuitry doesn’t seem to be fully initialized. I haven’t probed...
