@dramirez I eventually found a MacII donor for a light pipe, but that left me with the same initial problem of having one system without a light pipe. So, I carefully measured the original light pipe and made a .stl for 3D printing, but I have yet to print it. If you want to give it a go, please...
I switched to a DVD-RAM drive in my G3 (G4) MiniTower, which doesn't look pretty. Does anybody know a more eye-pleasing solution like this attached image from eBay, or perhaps a better one?
I tested a 650 MB PD cartridge in an Apple-branded DVD-RAM player since it has the PD logo on the front. DiskUtility and FWB HDT can see the cartridge but cannot format the disk. Is there a way to make it work?
I have an ATI Radeon 9200 in G3 Minitower, and it works. However, it’s not without conflict.
Lately, I have made a ridiculous effort to make my recent acquisition of a G3 Minitower 300 MHz ready for nostalgic recreation. Since the IDE/ATA drive died, the storage solution has changed to an ACARD...
@macuserman I got it working with a “Goodies” disk from the 7.1.2 US version. I also learned that the “Power Macintosh Card” uses a different enabler with System 7.1.2, which is why my clean 7.1.2 install didn’t work.
Did you solve it? I have the same issue with a Quadra 950, the install asks for a “goodies” disk. I tried with a clean 7.1.2 install as well, but it doesn’t want to boot in PPC-mode and complains the HD is an unsupported disk.
Cleaning the RAM sockets didn’t do anything. I’ll check out the Firmware update. Thank you!
When I did some more tests with only J1 occupied, one of the 512 MB OWC sticks acted up which resulted in a double beep at boot, so I guess something is wrong with at least one of the OWC memory sticks...
A couple of months ago, when OWC had a good deal on PC100 SO-DIMMs, I thought the time was due to upgrade one of my Pismos to 1 GB of RAM from 384 MB. But after installing two fresh DIMMs, the Pismo could only see socket J1—and with J2 gone, I thought a nice re-seating was in order. However, no...
It’s a tad late, perhaps, but I have similar issues with almost the identical setup. The only difference is I have a G4 400 ZIF upgrade. The System occasionally freezes but the cursor move. I always had issues with MacOS 9.2.2 and my G3 systems. What I did to solve it was to install the drivers...
