If it takes too long to get a XLR8 MPE card, I may try a 500MHz SONNET ZIF G4 CPU in the secondary socket.

He was just speculating on the cause, but there are issues fitting G3 CPU’s into these cards.

According to the manual, the molex adapter needs to be connected whether running with a single or dual CPU. Here’s someone else had issues with a 300MHz G3 CPU from a beige system in an XLR8 card:

I’m still running my G3 beige with a single CPU, but today I decided to see if I couldn’t get the installed CPU to run @ 500MHz? I’m happy to report that the overlock was successful and it’s now running @ 501MHz!!! (This is screaming fast for a Beige)

Let's see if I can get it up and running, by either reducing the speed of the already installed CPU down to 400MHz to match this one, or overclock this one to 466MHz to match the one that's already installed. This CPU's coming in from Germany, so it's going to take at least a month to get here!
