Thank you! It worked.
I'm assuming that the process will be the same for most other Macs, but if I want to connect to more than one at a time, I'm going to need a hub, or switch, or something? But I can deal with that later. What I need now is a VGA switch so I can hookup multiple machines to...
Yep. Just what the title says. I am a total AppleTalk noob. I have a Beige G3 Desktop (running OS 9.1) and a IIci (running System 7.1) that I want to connect over AppleTalk so I can share files between them. The G3 has internet access through Ethernet, but the IIci, on the other hand, lacks any...
Alright! So I finally got an HDI-45 adapter (as well as a working but VERRY TEMPORARY battery) and was able to give it a proper power test. I disconnected the hard drive, and connected it to one of my LCD displays (I also removed the DOS card as I'm unable to test it right now, and just wanted...
Alright. So recently I got a few (new to me) vintage Macs. A Performa 6205CD (see my previous post to see how well that's going), a Beige G3 Desktop, and a PowerMac 6100 DOS compatible. All were, more or less, in decent cosmetic shape, but in testing, only the 6100 gave any real signs of life...
To answer my own questions:
1) My boot issue was due to an updated Firmware (thanks to the good folks over at the VCF Forum for the help). It hadn't occurred to me to try booting from OS X since the computer shipped with 9.0.2. I guess 9.1 was too old. I did, however, manage to get it to boot...
So I have a Pismo that has an odd issue. It refuses to recognize any drive including the optical. I know the DVD Drive is good since it works in my Lombard and I can boot from a CD. I'm pretty sure that the Hard Drive and ribbon connector are good since I was able to boot into targeted FireWire...
I was only able to test off of the HD power lines, but I got 5.12v on the 5v line and 12.62v on the 12v. I can assume that the soft power is working since I can't turn it on without a keyboard.
Just as the title says. I recently got a Performa 6205CD that… well… let's just say it had a bit of a dust issue. But I've managed to get it all cleaned out (okay, I'm still working on the floppy drive, but that's not needed to boot). In any case, I managed to get it back together, hooked up a...
Yep! The card's bad. Tried reseating it, but ended up with the same issue. Sadly, I don't have another, but FireWire was just a would-be-nice for me. What I'll really be on the hunt for is a VGA card (probably the same kind that's in a Blue and White). For now, I'll just leave it to plug the...
Thank you! But… now I've run into another issue. The system won't fully boot if the FireWire extensions are installed. It just locks up mid boot (after the background pattern but before the extension icons). Attempting to boot from the 9.1 CD has the same result. I had to use an 8.5 CD and then...
Alright! So I got my Beige G3 Desktop up and running. Got it connected to the internet, loaded Classilla, found my old QuickTime Pro S/N, and have begun installing all the apps I wanted to make this a near perfect publishing/bridge machine. I also installed USB and FireWire PCI Cards salvaged...
Update! The new PSU arrived and I even got the original motherboard to boot! Turns out I forgot to replace the configuration jumper block.
Now if only I could get some replacements for all the shattered internal plastics!
Alright. I'd like to start with the PSU since that's the only thing that will fit in my desktop case. The problem is, I'm not sure where to begin with a PSU that has a good fuse but puts out no voltage?
What are the most likely suspects?
