The 7500 is a very neat card. Doesn’t need a VRM mod and just slips right in. If it doesn’t work with this it’s not the end of the world though. Most of what I want to play has an OS X version other than Warcraft 2. And that seems fine in classic.
I got version 1.8.1 and 2.2.2 from Macintosh Repository. 1.8.1 was not needed on 9.2.2, but 2.2.2 installed. No change with the Radeon 7500.
I'm guessing there's something the driver is missing for scaled resolutions, since the display itself isn't doing the scaling.
It did install updated...
Oh I didn’t know there was a displays software. I’ll try it.
For fun I threw the Rage 128 Pro back in. I have several resolutions including 640x480 and 1024x768.
With the Radeon I did try a bunch of driver revisions, starting with January 2002 and ending in January 2005, and none of them had...
I got my hands on an ADC 17" Studio Display and it's super awesome...in Tiger. As long as I'm running OS X, I can change resolutions since games really run better at non-native, lower res. It even automatically letterboxes 4:3 resolutions on the 5:4 panel.
On OS 9, however, I can only pick the...
It worked! The jumpers as I received it were set for 1.467 on a 133 MHz bus but the card says it's rated for 1.4. I lowered it to 1.33 before powering it up in my Quicksilver 733 MHz. This thing is rippin' now.
@indibil if another one of these comes up without the clip, your idea for a S370...
I took a flyer on one of these on eBay. It's missing the heatsink clip, though. Anybody know where I can get a replacement? OWC says they don't have it any more.
I picked up a low-end Socket A heatsink since the tabs are ~55mm and that's the length of Socket A / Socket 370. Once it arrives...
This did end up helping quite a bit. CPU and FP performance came up to match where it was with my Interware installed. The GrandVimage is still a faster solution than RAM-based video, though.
How much memory do miners need? The Mac Classic is capped at 4MB. I’m not sure that what we’re doing here is even possible on a 68000 Mac. Use your hard drive as swap space I guess but now you’ve got to build your own virtual memory paging system.
Window dimensions won’t fit a classic Mac’s...
Hmm, never thought of that but it makes sense that if you make the memory configuration mirror the IIsi that the IIsi RAM muncher app would do what it needs to. I'm going to go try that.
If I may add to your data point, I set up my IIci as close to yours as I can - mine has the Apple cache card rather than the Daystar, but it's running 7.0.1. I have 8x1 MB SIMMs installed, so 4MB in both banks.
My video card is an Interware GrandVimage 24-16. At 640x480 8-bit color I get a...
Honestly that is less expensive than I expected. I loved reading through your build log. Living vicariously through you as I tinker with much cheaper Macs to get my feet wet in this wild and weird hobby.
ETA: I did the Noctua mod in my SE and it was well worth it. The fact it comes with a nice...
They seem pretty legit 6.0.1 disks. And since I didn't update the thread sooner, three of the disks are fine. The System Tools boot disk is damaged so it wouldn't boot off of it.
