Get a disk utility listing of all drives from the command line "diskutil list". That'll tell you what the organization is (partitions, volume types and sizes, etc). You may need to run First Aid to fix-up some volumes .. but start with the listing.

As a footnote to disabling the boot memory test... On my beige G3 mini-tower running MacOS9.2, the memory test comes and goes mysteriously. It seems to return spontaneously. It may be that it's enabled by booting into OFW which I frequently do to boot other OSes. Perhaps XPostFacto is involved...

If you have more than a minimal amount of RAM, an alternative ROM is a good idea to skip memory tests on boot that can take an age.
