New Problem - When Attempting to Test Floppy Drive, Mac Plus Crashed; Rebooting, both with FDD Cable attached and without FDD Cable attached, No Start

Well, I pulled the logic board out and disconnected it from the Mac Plus and the analog board, and the "flup, flup, flupping" sound disappeared. There was nothing. No bing, no video, no other sound and no, as far as I can tell, burning, smoke or ozone smell. Does that mean its the logic board...

New Problem - When Attempting to Test Floppy Drive, Mac Plus Crashed; Rebooting, both with FDD Cable attached and without FDD Cable attached, No Start

Hi, again (and again): While testing different fixes for the defective ejection mechanism on the Mac Plus FDD, at one point the Mac Plus crashed. When I tried to reboot, both with FDD cable attached and, then, again, separately, without FDD cable attached, Mac Plus refused to boot, instead...

Remaining Problems: Mac Plus -- The 800k Internal Floppy Drive

Hi Folks! It's me again. Well, all your advice was great, and it really helped me get this far. But I have one more issue to resolve before I can fully reassemble the Mac Plus I've been working on and put it up for sale. The 800 k internal floppy drive. First off, I've done absolutely...

Are There Foreseeable Problems (Currently) or Likely in the Near Future With This Analog Board?

Okay folks: This is my first attempt to diagnose and repair (if necessary, but only if necessary) any apparent defective (or soon likely to become defective or fail) parts on a Mac Plus original analog board. Right now, the analog board is working (it's powering and providing signal to) a Mac...

Screen Craps Out But Only After I've Loaded Combined Update 10.2.8; Before That Everything Was Terrific.

Thanks! Any idea about what may be causing the screen problem after the installation of the Combined Update for 10.2.8?

Screen Craps Out But Only After I've Loaded Combined Update 10.2.8; Before That Everything Was Terrific.

Hi Folks! I've got a new one here. My Late 1998 PDQ (233 MHz) G3 PowerBook (with a 60 GB IDE/ATA66 hard drive and 256 MB of PC 66 RAM) works magnificently on System 9.2.2 and 10.2. Everything works! The memory is correctly read, the system boots up nice and fast, the hard drive is humming...

Screen shifted very slightly to the left (?); cold boot starts quick, but reboot very, very slow; how to diagnose and fix a floppy drive that will acc

Thank you so much! Your organization here is terrific! No misinformation, just solid stuff. Thanks again! BTW, is it perhaps possible that the PRAM battery, i.e., 4.5V battery that's in its own compartment on the back of the Mac Plus, is it perhaps possible that removal of that battery...

Screen shifted very slightly to the left (?); cold boot starts quick, but reboot very, very slow; how to diagnose and fix a floppy drive that will acc

Hi, I'm new to 68kMLA and I'm working on repairing my very first Mac Plus. I have three questions and would appreciate any help any of you can provide. Thanks in advance!!! 1. The Mac Plus screen, once fully booted is very slightly shifted to the left. You can see the entire desktop, but...

Apple OEM Seagate ST340015A in a G3 PowerBook PDQ 233 MHz

Thanks! Appreciate it! Now I can get on with selling the current, in great shape, PDQ machine that I have. Just waiting for a hard drive that would actually work with the machine so that I could upgrade. Thanks again!

Does anyone have experience with an Apple OEM Seagate ST340015A in a G3 PowerBook PDQ machine running at 233 MHz?

yellow transport sheets (affectionately known at the time as "the piece of cheese")

I've been advised by another 68KMLA member that the yellow transport plastic dummy disk that came with a recent purchase of a used Mac Plus was quite valuable and that, even if I decide to send the Mac Plus back, I should think about keeping the yellow dummy disk or selling it. Can anyone tell...

Mac Plus - Error Code 017C01

Thinking of replacing the existing ROMs on a 1988 Mac Plus logic board. Does anyone know what the ROMs are for the 1988 version of the Mac Plus? I've attached the 1986 versions, i.e., version 1, 2 and 3, but is there a different version for the 1988 machine?? Just asking.
