No chime. But I did get a chime prior to recap. Here's a photo of UE8.

    Macintosh SE/30 M5119 - Restoration

I have the same simasimac pattern. I also ordered new RAM from OWC but that didn't fix the problem. Might just send it to someone who can take a look and troubleshoot it.

SE/30 Logic Board and Analog Board Recapped, Boot Chime Quickly Followed By Death Chime, Nothing Shows On Screen

I got 4 new SIMMs from OWC. I still get Simasimac. Do I need to install new RAM slots with working clips?

What IDE adapters are you using?

Same SD to IDE adapter works inside a PowerBook 5300cs.

What IDE adapters are you using?

Most definitely. Need to start looking for a replacement.

What IDE adapters are you using?

Yes, the option to initialize was grayed out in Drive Setup. That’s why it wouldn’t work even with a USB sd card reader, @LaPorta.

What IDE adapters are you using?

I've successfully installed Mac OS 7.6 to my PowerBook 3400c! For those wondering here's how I did it. I popped my SD card into my Pismo using the SD to IDE adapter. Booted into OS 9 Boot Kit v2 on a USB flash drive then formatted the SD card into 3 partitions using Drive Setup. I took out the...

What IDE adapters are you using?

I don't believe it can do the low level formatting required. Also, I don't have one.

What IDE adapters are you using?

I use a SD to IDE adapter and put it in an external enclosure that connects to my Pismo via Firewire or USB.

What IDE adapters are you using?

I managed to get it working albeit not consistently. Here's how I did it. I used my Pismo running Mac OS 9.2.2. I formatted the CF card in the PCMCIA card reader using Drive Setup making 3 partitions (one for OS 7.6.1, one for OS 8.6, and one for general files). Then I restored the PowerBook...

What IDE adapters are you using?

No CD drive but I copied the files to a CF card which is plugged in via a PCMCIA card reader. The PowerBook 3400 keeps ejecting the PCMCIA card reader, though. I formatted the SD card using my Pismo.

What IDE adapters are you using?

I've a Pismo, iBook G3 Clamshell, Mac Mini G4 and a Mac Mini 2018. I used my Pismo to format the CF and SD cards. CF cards won't boot because they aren't the industrial type.

What IDE adapters are you using?

Right. I've tried formatting it as HFS with Apple Partition Map as well but still doesn't work.

What IDE adapters are you using?

My PCMCIA CF card reader and SD to IDE adapters have arrived. I've "burned" the PowerBook 3400 Restore CD to the CF card but it won't boot in my PowerBook 3400c via the PCMCIA card reader. I've also copied Mac OS 8.6 System Folder to the SD card prior to putting it inside but also no bueno. Any...
