WANTED: Apple HD 20SC stock drive AUDIO & PHOTOS

I am currently editing a forthcoming video on the Apple Hard Disk 20SC. The SCSI drive mechanism I use with my 20SC enclosure is not stock, so I am curious about the sound of the stock drives. Would any of you 20SC owners who still have the stock 5.25" Seagate ST-225N drive (photo below) be willing to record the sound of the drive spinning up and running for several seconds?  PC versions in an old PC should sound the same, so you could record that audio, I suppose.

You do NOT need to open the HD20SC to record the audio. If you do kindly record the audio, I would appreciate your permission to use that audio in my video, and I will credit you and your website in the text description. (You PM that info to me).

You could just just sit an iPhone on a soft cloth (so the mic doesn't pick up table vibrations), with the mic aimed toward the drive (away from the fan vent) and then record a WAV or AIFF file.

ALSO, if any of you have the slightly newer 3.5" Full Height Miniscribe 8425SA drive mechanism inside your 20SC enclosure, I would love to have 2 things: (1) a clear-focused, semi top-down photo of the drive mounted inside the 20SC case and (2) an audio recording of it spinning up and running for a few seconds. To see the Miniscribe drive I am talking about, just Google "miniscribe 8425SA" and click on "Images" to see some photos of the bare drive.

The focus of my video is not on the stock drives, but I thought that adding a short few seconds of info on those original drives might add something nice.

Thanks to Tom Barber for providing an Audio file of the ST-225N and thanks to Old Crap Vintage Computing for allowing me use of their ST-225N photos.  No one seems to have the Miniscribe drive though, so I will just leave that audio out and show some photos off the web instead.

Wow. Thank you for the numerous photos and for the MP3. I also appreciate the photo that shows where that 6-pin BLUE connector attaches. It’s interesting it connects to the bottom of the drive. That ribbon cable leads to the SCSI ID selector switch on the enclosure.

It run very well, faster than the HD20 (Rodime) on my Plus (128k upgraded)

Did you ever run benchmarks on your 8425SA drive?  For example, Norton Utilities System Info or Speedometer 3.x?

I am going to show some benchmarks of my IBM DGHS SCSI drive in my video, and I was just curious how it compares with the stock Seagate and Miniscribe drives.  I'm pretty sure mine is faster, but I am quite curious to learn how much.

It's not a problem if you lack the benchmarks.  I just thought it might be fun to show a comparison in the video.

I have been searching the same information. My hard drive was not responding and lost data from drive. I was so frustrated with that problem . I have been searching the data recovery service center for solve those problem. If anyone has any information then suggest to me.

You have been searching for information on either a 20MB Seagate or 20MB Miniscribe drive used inside an Apple Hard Disk 20SC enclosure?  Data Recovery services work, but they are just too expensive.  If the drive still spins and if the heads are working, it could just be a bad block.  Visit Macintosh Garden and download Norton Utilities and MacTools Pro, boot from another drive with System 7, and those utility apps diagnose your drive.

I can do that, but the MiniScribe is not very fast ;-)  , more than HD20 due to SCSI, but very low compare to next SCSI HD.

To show you, I run Speedometer 3.23 on a SE/30, with the external 20SC, and the internal Quantum LPS525S (500Mo).
