Vintage Nikon camera

Alright, this conquest actually belongs to a friend of mine, but I thought it was a hoot:

The Nikon SP was last manufactured in either the late 1950s or early 1960s, and it's highly collectable, particularly in black. A few years ago, Nikon unearthed the original tooling for the camera and produced brand-new ones for the collector market in Japan. Bundled with 35mm lens, they originally sold for about $5000. This is one of those cameras, purchased from Wolf Camera for considerably less. To me, it looks totally true to the original, save for the modern lens coatings. He says he'll pass it along to me at his cost, but it may still be a bit rich for my blood, especially since I'm not shooting film these days.

In that condition (and black) it's worth $5000. Those re-issued ones are hard to find. Originals w/lens go for about $2000+

Funny, Canon rangefinder cameras go for a fraction of the price :?:

Actually, these reissues are common on eBay, and the few which sell aren't fetching anywhere near that original price, and original chrome ones w/lens also seem to be selling for a lot less than they might have 2-5 years ago.

A buddy of mine said he just got a Canon 7 a few weeks ago, but I haven't seen it yet.
