Ubuntu on B/W G3

I succesfully installed 7.10 on my B/W G3. I had tried different LiveCD's like Ubuntu, Vine, Gentoo and Fedora, all with no succes, they all gave errors while booting, i found out that when I disconnected my internal Zip drive they would boot but no working graphics. Then I downloaded the 7.10 alternate CD and installation was flawless, everything works, I can now dual boot between 7.10 and OS X.

I always recommend the Alternate Installation Disc. It comes with a lot more stuff on the ISO than you'd find on the Live CD and is more flexible in terms of configurations.

One thing I did notice though as that it helps even more if you have an active Internet connection while installing with the Alternate CD. If there's anything that your system needs, the installation gets it from the repository on the Internet. If you're not connected, it's possible that the installation process might just skip it. At one time when installing Gutsy on a PC laptop, I ended up with a somewhat unstable system and I noticed that I did not have an active network connection. Once I reinstalled with an active network connection, that PC had a much more stable environment installed.
