After having a G3/400 processor lying around from upgrading my Blue/White G3 to a G4, I tried the G3/400 in my Beige G3 this morning.
Initially it didn't boot so I started to put the old G3/266 back in. When I started to put the jumpers in the jumper block back to their original position I noticed that the block had been inserted backwards. After reinserting the G3/400 and the jumper block in the correct position it powered up and shows that it's a 400mhz with 1MB L2 cache.
Woohoo! [] ]'>
For those of you who would like to try this yourself, the jumpers to be set are 3, 5, 6 and 7 for 66mhz bus speed and a 6x multiplier. That and the part of the jumper block with the bump on the side goes towards the front of the case. [] ]'>
