Sharkonwheels intro

Name's Tony - I see some familiar nicks from other forums, which is good.

I do IT in S. Florida for a cruise line, and have been into computers since early 80's.

My collection consists mostly of CP/M gear, but I have consistently had some 68K Mac here and there forever.

My current Mac stash (I unloaded quite a few about 2 years go & 5 years ago):

Quadra 605, with an RC040, 68MB RAM, PDS ethernet, 33MHz hack

Q840AV, 128MB RAM, (3) SCSI drives, but bad case - REALLY bad!

PM 6360, 6500/250 mainboard, 136MB RAM, ethernet, Apple TV card

PowerBook Duo 280c - working on

PowerBook 150 - just happen to have it!

Assistive FreeStyle - PB5300 in tablet format - working on

Got rid of all the other Macs, including a Q950 w/ 256Mb RAM, Q800, some PM's, like 8500, 8600,9500, 9600, and an MP, DayStar Genesis MP, Beige G3, couple of quicksilvers, B&W, (3) CC's.

I'd like to acquire another Q840AV, or at least the case to transplant my good sytem into. Also, a Q650 so I can play with A/UX again, Q660AV, and I wouldn't mind hacking up another Mystic CC again ('040).

Welcome!

Nice collection. I too have unloaded many older Macs periodically - it's just nice to cleanse once in a while (and not have 80,000 Macs all over the house).

Best of luck finding an 840AV; they pop up once in a great while.

They're around - just gotta know where to look.

University surpluses are a great place, and gov surplus, especially NASA-type bases, as well...

Mine works, it just, um, REALLY looks, um, BAAAD!

Back panel won't stay on, and the plastic front is mostly off of the metal

portion of the cover.

Had it for years.... many MANY moons ago, I was using TigerShark, but as years passed that name started getting used, so I tried to com up with another one. When I got my Harley in 1998, i tried coming up with names, and Tigershark on Wheels came to mind, and it was shrunk to Sharkonwheels...

Greetings and welcome to the forums!

I hope your stay here is a good one.

You have a good collection there. Even if the 840AV is falling apart, at least it is functional.

PowerMac 8100s are probably a lot easier to find if you need a new case for your 840AV.

And that Assistive Freestyle is a nice piece.

Good call on the case Bunsen.

I was thinking he might be able to use a PM8500 case, but no. I forgot all about the 8100.
