Senrew's Gx Family Conquest

Been trolling Craigslist. Found an ad from a couple months ago for several Gx series PowerMacs. Took a chance and contacted the lister. He still had them, took an offer and today I picked up:

2x B&W G3s that have had the plastic handles completely shattered. One has an exploded battery with damage all over the case so that one is 100% for parts

867mhz Quicksilver

2003 MDD (Fuck Yeah) This is exactly the machine I've been looking for. Damn thing is tricked out too. Max RAM, SATA PCI card, 2x250gb sata drives in RAID, GeForce 4 Ti 4600

Single 1.8ghz G5 (Guessing the 2005 cut-down model?)

Dual 2.0ghz G5 with some additions

19" Cinema Display (First ADC monitor for me. I think it's 19"?)

20"? Studio Display

Needless to say, I'll be having fun exploring what's in these things. The wife wants a G5 for a DAW, and I'll likely keep the MDD as my main PPC machine.

Oh yeah...all told...$75!!!

Most of the Macs on Craigslist here are early Intel stuff, with some occasional exceptions.

Get what you can -- plus, an Intel model may have more utility anyway. It's not like you'll actually be able to feel all the soul and character a PowerPC system has, in comparison to, say, an Intel system, when they look nearly identical on the outside, and generally run the same software.

It's also mostly iMacs and MacBooks that I can't afford (because they cost hundreds of dollars). I'm hoping a "G5" Mac Pro pops up one of these days for a good price.

itsvince725: I have an extra G5 I might be letting go of, if you're interested. It's an early 1.6 or 1.8 model, I think (can't remember if it's single or dual processor).

Ahh, OK.

I might post it in the Trading Post. Someone's bound to want it (it works, as far as I know; I'll have to test it to confirm....)
