I picked up a Thinkpad T60!

Well actually my boss gave it to me. It's model is 1953-EAU and its base specs are:

CoreDuo T2400 1.83GHz

1.5GB DDRII RAM

Intel GMA950 GPU

100GB 5400RPM SATA HD

Combo Drive

So I found out the the bum battery it came with was covered under the Lenovo battery recall. Therefore as of 2 hours ago I am now the proud owner of a brand new 9-cell battery for this machine.

It runs the heck out of Vista and plays WoW very nicely. It is able to connect to the corporate VPN with ease. I have installed our site version of CS3 and it too runs great.

I have been using it as my main (work) rig for about 2 weeks and it has been very fast and stable. I stuck Vista on it as I wanted to tinker with it and to be honest I am bored with XP.

Oh and trust me, I will run a Linux on it to check it out also. Maybe OS X also....

T60!

The 9-cell batteries are great for battery life, I can get a ridiculously time on my R61i, but what do you think of the way it sticks out the back of the machine? [:p] ]'>

on the R, it sticks out a good inch and a half, which is a lot on a machine like the R which is already a whale of a machine.

First off, the machine is mine. As according to the boss I don't get paid nearly enough and it was just sitting there.

So yes, the precious is mine.

I gave (yes, gave) my T42 to a coworker who is machine less (on the portable front of things) because he is very, very good at his job and is also underpaid. It's my little way of saying thanks. Besides, I have a T60!

I have always loved how the 9-cell stuck out because then I can hold it with my left hand and my arm tucked underneath in a pseudo tablet style. It's very comfortable. However I also love the 5 hour battery life I appear to be getting so far.
