Recapping a Mac SE power supply and analog board

I honestly don't mind logic boards when it comes to recapping.. But power supplies and analog boards are a pain in the #$(!@.. I just did a few compact mac analog and power supplies. Some of the caps are such odd values.. Pricing will vary depending on where you go.. I personally do ebay and carefully look at the date codes on the caps.. avoiding old stock ones. But many others on here go to online vendors.. I store a lot of my machines.. so I just end up recapping everything before so when I take them out I am not having to recap something that has died from sitting at an inconvenient time. Some people just leave them until they die... then recap.. The SE/30 and classic logic boards you most definitely want to do since the SMD caps leak and ruin the traces on the boards.. as well as many other models with the SMD electrolytic cans.. Regular axial and radial do leak but not too often.. and I've found they don't cause as much damage as the little SMD cans...
Of course I REMOVE ALL PRAM batteries... and usually label the machine with a label maker "NO PRAM BATT"... along with my recap date... So when they are taken out of storage you know you don't have to worry about an explosion...

I created this list when I recapped my Macintosh SE as a guide for what to buy and as a checklist when I was recapping. It includes a few spare capacitors for each required part. Depending on whether or not you have a Sony-branded power supply, the capacitors required will be different. I had a frustrating time opening my Astek power supply to find I'd bought the wrong capacitors. I had to buy a Sony power supply anyway as I broke the Astek one. (the list is for Sony) I think it cost around $25USD in total to complete. I buy my capacitors from Digikey. Be sure to buy 105º rated Nichicon and Panasonic caps. It is considerably more difficult to find the massive 620uf 400volt power supply capacitor. I was not able to find these caps when I recapped my computer either. They seem to be specialty parts that are not manufactured anymore. I included them on my list just in case. Maybe someone here knows what a suitable replacement is?

This is why when I recap, I usually go to mouser electronics because they have axial leaded electrolytic capacitors. I just substitute. Doesnt matter what series or brand, as long as its axial and has the same ratings.
Then, for the others, I usually take the diameter, height, and lead spacing measurements and get something close. That way it looks original but its recapped. I did that with all of Haplain's see-through stuff.
The high voltage filter cap is a tough one. I usually had to seat it in 1 of the original holes, and then drill a new hole in the PCB and stick the 2nd leg through it, fold the lead over, and run a wire to the correct pad location. That always worked. Not ideal, but works.

Sorry for bringing this back from the dead, but I just went through my SE Sony PSU because I couldn't find the actual dimensions of the original caps anywhere, and I need to order 5 sets, so didn't want to find out that half of them didn't fit. Information for people searching in the future, these are the stock Electrolytic (and line filter) caps I found in my Sony FDHD PSU :
