So my initial plan of last Wednesday wound up getting derailed due to the holiday, but...she's getting rebuilt tonight!!!

Details will follow here in about an hour or however long it takes me to get Britney back on her feet :)

I want to make sure this machine is stable enough that it doesn't do something foolish...you know, like shave its head...

Cool beans, have at it, guy! Make sure she keeps her hair hat on, you wouldn't wanna have to rename her Robin!

Hmm...which Conner drive to use? I have two identical 40MBs...

Anyway, in regard to named Macs...I've got another from that era...Dave, the Mac Plus...maybe Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode? (Currently listening to the "One Night in Paris" concert while working). Dave just seemed like a good name for it when I got it back in 1999...

give Britney's AB a little sniff and let me know if you catch a not pleasant smell.. that means she is probably ready for an AB re/cap as well.

When I hear dave, I can only think of the PB5300/XXXX
I saw Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odysseyin first release all by myself as a kid . . . there is no other Dave!

< wonders if that could be . . . :?: >

Most especially not that guy in the movie by the name, very funny, but a very not Dave, Dave!

Sigourney Weaver does make up for a lot though. [}:)] ]'>

edit: you guys are baaaad! Just stay the hell away from that Christina LC Box . . . oh wait . . . she gots no AB! ;D

Well, Britney is certainly living up to expectations...for a Mac Classic named Britney at least!!!

There was a group accusing Britney Spears of lip-syncing. While I'm not sure if it's true or not, this Classic will be lip-syncing in a way for now. The analog board I chose for the machine doesn't want to utilize its internal speaker. Therefore, external speakers are in store. (They'll sound better anyway if I want to have this computer play her songs...)

To quote the introduction to Britney's cover of "Satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones, "I'm not picky...I just know what I want." The RAM boards are certainly this way in this Mac!!! Sad Macs aplenty with the first cards I tried!!!

There's also the ADB keyboard. The AppleDesign I want to use has problems...from the bottom of its broken heart...I mean ADB connector. Therefore, a donor mushy board has been placed into service to give it the part it needs (the board). I'm working on this as we speak.

While this Mac hasn't been toxic, it certainly is getting stronger. It drives me crazy and I just can't sleep...I'm too excited because I'm in too deep (to this repair). Maybe I'll get lucky with this computer and have the keyboard work on the first attempt, but if it doesn't work, don't hold it against me!! I'll simply say oops and do it again, repairing it the right way, because sometimes it will run...oh, and I have this external hard drive; if it were IDE, it would be a slave for the internal, but instead I have to deal with SCSI...

(ok, if you got all the references in the above paragraph, you clearly listened to the same music I did circa 2000).

Not that I can smell. I'm guessing it may be a loose wire somewhere. Everything is fine in terms of video, drives getting power, etc.

Well, I just had it on to test the keyboard and the screen is starting to twitch...

...looks like we have an analog board to be recapped!!!

A little before my time, but I caught most of them. The music video for Crazy was what I used when testing QuickTime formats on the WS.

sometimes with the screen twitching, if you pop that cover off the rear, you can stick a screw driver in those holes and turn the pots left and right.. and back to original position, and it will get rid of the screen twitch. most of the time.

My classic the focus loves to run in and out, regardless of the pot :)

Just never had time to do anything about it. CRT seems weak anyway. These macs are getting of the age now, a good sencore or knight CRT tester is a handy thing to have.
