Hi all. Picked up an SE/30 at the System Source swap meet a couple of weeks ago that was in nice shape, no corrosion. Now, it does have a couple of issues I need to address, in particular, I see some occasional screen "wobble" or stretching, fairly minor, but I am thinking the AB needs a recap, I have already done the logic board, does that sound about right? The CRT shows a good bit of burn-in and doesn't get as bright as my SE, so either a weak tube or the power supply, correct? Thanks.

Agreed, have just gone through similar with brother's SE30. Burn in can only really be fixed by replacement of CRT.
AB recap is recommended, and solder joint reflow. If still on original PSU, that too. Wobbles can be power glitches, and brightness can be improved to a point but the CRT is sounding like its on the way. Only you can judge how bad the burn is - my brothers had it and I didn't notice, but the person refurbishing for me knew as soon as he took the machine out the box I sent it in WITHOUT switching on. There are ways round it (cheap external PiSCSI can emulate a graphics board and output to a HDMI monitor)
You could always swap screens with your SE to test ? Likewise PSU..... my brother's machine is a combo of SE and 30 bits like that
Also, check your wiring - SE/Analog board power cables are notoriously iffy quality compared to today. Not a given, but meh power delivery/interference can also cause such things.
Does the machine have any expansions, or do you plan on installing any ?
Thanks guys, I finished the AB recap, and there is no more "wobble", definitely the crt is had a lot of hours on it so I may do a swap with an SE. Will also need to get the memory as I have added 16 meg to the 4 meg, but am showing only 8 meg. As the HD won't boot but shows up on disk first aid, may have to reformat and try again with that.

The good thing is that you can use any CRT from 128k through early Classic. Also, you’ll need Mode32 for the RAM usage.
