Since the death of my beloved TiBook i've been searching for a new Powerfull PowerBook. Today i bought a PowerBook G4 12" 1,5Ghz (but with 512MB ram) Superdrive and brand new battery for € 295. The PowerBook is in mint condition.

I have a little question though:

On my Tibook i knew i had to be carefull with the hinges as they are fragile and the side paint as it easely comes off. My TiBook died because of a dead motherbord (which i couldn't foresee).

I wonder if this PowerBook G4 12" also has such issues i need to be pay attention to...

Or is it a -no problems ever- notebook?

It's my understanding that the Alum Powerbook did not have the same problem with crappy hinges that plagued the Ti Powerbook.

The Aluminum powerbooks are 10x better built than the TiBooks were. Not only was the hinge issue fixed, but the whole thing wasn't near as flimsy. You should be pretty pleased with the AlBook design.

Funny, I too just got a 12" 1.5 GHz 512 MB PowerBook!

As these other chaps have said, the Al PBs are much more solidly built than the Tis. That said, however, I don't think I've seen a 12" Al PB (mine included) that didn't have some slight dents/bent metal around the edges of the bottom case. It seems that while these are leaps & bounds better than the Ti PBs (hinge assembly especially!), they're not without their own, unique concerns. I'm pretty sure that as long as you're even mildly careful about what you go banging your 12" into, it should do just fine!
