Powerbook G3 Wallstreet PRAM Battery

Hey all - Does the PRAM battery in the G3 Wallstreets pose an existential threat to the machine like the PRAM battery in the 3400c and other machines?  Based on where and how Apple buried it, it doesn't seem like any leakage would affect the innards of the machine (so long as it was left laying flat), but I was wondering if anyone had experiences with this.

In the mid 00's I had the PRAM battery for my Pismo repacked, but it died again quite quickly - not worth the money I paid... So I pulled it out, and - noticed no issues other than the expected loss of settings if the main battery runs out of charge.

Any leaking battery can't be a good thing...

Since the battery doesn't seem to be placed over any vital circuitry, like with the 3400c/Kanga, I didn't think it would have any serious effect if something happened to it someday. But, just for peace of mind, it's probably best to just leave it out. I haven't heard of any disasters or bad experiences that happened with the WallStreet PRAM battery, yet.
