Performa 6116 Shut off - bad power supply?

So for years I've had a few Performa 6115, and 6116 and similar machines. A while back I got a G3 Sonnet upgrade card for it and I found the machine great to use for fun and old games.

Today I decided to hook it up and it started to boot up - suddenly it shut off. The power light is now flickering faintly. Anytime I try and turn it on it does the same with the flickering light - it won't even turn on, I tried a new power cable too. I am guessing it's the power supply.

Can you guys think of anything else? I know about 15 years ago or something my cousin had the same issue, I was too young enough to know how to fix it. Any ideas would be great.

Thanks! :D

The 6100 will not start up properly without a good PRAM battery. This is the battery on the logic board. The battery type is 1/2AA.

It could be something else too, but the PRAM battery is the place to start.

well the 61XX series wont boot with video without a good PRAM battery, but however the power light would still remain lit. I could get a 61XX machine to fire up without a battery by powering it up, quickly powering it off and right back up. it would then boot.

but your issue is clearly the power supply. Put your ear next to the power supply or use one of those doctor stethoscope thingies and listen to the power supply. if you hear a tick-tick. failed power supply.
