Hi all,

I'm a little excited as I've managed to score a fairly complete Original Macintosh (a 128K, but badged 'Macintosh'). I don't have the machine yet, I'm arranging the courier as we speak. I'll upload some pictures when I get the chance, although I am about to relocate for work and my entire Mac collection needs to be boxed up, so I may be a little slow.

What I've scored is really great. It's from the original owner, and seems to be very well cared for. The plastics all seem in really nice condition, all it looks to need are a quick wipe over, and cracking the case open to clean and inspect. It comes with the machine, the correct keyboard and mouse, correct power cord, the light tan Apple carry bag in great condition, an original 400K drive, manuals for the Mac, MacWrite and MacPaint, as well as a manual for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The only thing I'm not sure on is the software situation - does it have all of these disks? There is a box for disks with the Picasso logo on there, so I'm assuming that all relevant disks are in there.

I'm told it all works, which is a big bonus, with the only concern being the external drive sometimes needs a paperclip to coax the disk out. Apart from that, which I should be able to fix easily, I should have a fairly complete system in working order to call my very own. Woo hoo!

I arranged for a courier pickup this morning, so with a bit of luck, it's already on its way to me! I am not expecting it before the weekend, but some time early next week it should arrive. Can't wait!

Sounds like a sweet deal. I really like the look of those carry bags. Someday I plan to get one just to use as a carry bag.

Got the Mac last night, and there are positives and negatives about it.

Firstly, the Mac's colour looked great in the pictures, but it is ever so slightly yellowed. Also, the bags they come in don't offer as much protection as I thought, and a small section of the front bexel came off from the top of the machine where it must have hit something. I glued in back in place and it seem ok, but it's still annoying. The bag is in great condition, but the ring pull is snapped. I also didn't have the power cable or the Picasso box the floppies were meant to be in, but these are going to be sent through. Upon opening the machine, it was missing a couple of screws that hold the analog board in place, and one under the carry handle for the case. Lastly, the floppy drive of the Mac will read a disk, but doesn't like doing it, and it's hard to get the disk back. The external unit won't even accept a disk, so they both need a service.

On the plus side, it is an Original Mac, with matching mouse and keyboard, all around the same production date (all within 2 weeks of each other), the mouse and keyboard have had little wear and work great, the computer turns on immediately with a clear, crisp and bright screen, the logic board is a proper Original Mac board with no sad mac, it came with 6 original disks including System, MacWrite, MacPaint, Guided Tour, System and MacWrite Backup, and MacWrite/MacPaint Tour disk, and it came with the Macintosh and MacWrite manuals. Unfortunately, the Microsoft Flight Simulator disk is MIA, but I have the manual for it.

So I gave it a good clean, replaced the missing screws, grabbed my Picasso tray with Macintosh Tape, and Interrupt Switch, and made a complete box from that. So I now have a carry case, Mac, KB and Mouse, 400KB M0130 drive, Picasso tray with all accessories including manuals and disks, all for $100. Woo hoo!

All I need to do now is service these 400KB drives somehow. I read and have used repeatedly the cleaning of the newer drives, but does anyone have a cleaning guide for these original drives that is easy to follow? I have a couple of 512Ks with the same problem, and I'd like to clean them all so they all work.
