Need guidance w/zuluscsi

I have a PM 8600/300

Have an external zuluscsi on the db25.

I need to know the sequence on how to install OS 9.2.1 on the .hda partition.

I’ve created a blank 4gb partition. It shows up when I boot from and old scsi drive. I formatted the drive and that worked. I can use the drive.

However when I put an ISO of 9.2.1 on the SD—- which does show up when I boot from the old scsi, it doesn’t want to boot from the CD1.iso image, and instead I get this:

this startup disk will not work on this macintosh

So this begs the question, is it telling me that my empty formatted 4gb partition is the problem or my cd iso image?

I tried pressing C but no matter it still has the same message.

Do I leave the HDA file unformatted? Which IDs do I use? (I’ve disconnected the scsi drive).

I have the formatted hda as 0 and the Mac OS 9.2.1 as 1.

Im guessing it’s a simple fix and would appreciate help.

I think everything is working as intended, but the 8600 will only boot up to 9.1 unless the system has been modified to bypass this limitation. OS 9 helper can be used to update an already present installation of 9.1, but I'm not sure if a 9.2.1 CD exists in a pre-modified state.
