Mysterious Apple IIc Color Display

A few months ago I picked up this old Apple Monitor out of a bunch of discarded CRT screens. I will admit I have never seen one of the color IIc displays before, only the IIe Platinum version which seems to be basically the same. Anyway, I was even more curious once I saw this strange connector someone seems to have added to it. The label is also missing. I had planned on popping it open and wiring up a composite input but was curious if anyone had ideas as to what is going on here.

Ok! I was a little confused by the female connector, but after some tips it turns out its wired for IIgs and displays a picture just fine coming off my ROM3 machine. Its a bit larger than the IIgs screen so maybe I keep it as a backup? Is this sort of mod something that has been documented before?
