I have a B&W G3 that is currently used headless for iTunes playback. It was a free alternative to AirPort Express. I simply use ARD to control the G3 from elsewhere. It's very nice.
HOWEVER
The thought has occurred that I should also attach this machine to the TV so videos can be played. i.e. keepvid off of YouTube and play in QuickTime Player full-screen because the G3 is a tad too slow to play with the Flash player. The Mac has no composite/S-Video/component outputs, and I do not have a VGA converter. The TV has a VGA input but requires 640x480 60Hz. No other resolutions work.
640x480 is not possible for use with iTunes. The interface literally doesn't have room. So my request is, can anyone think of a free solution to this problem? I know I can order up a VGA adapter and convert 1024x768 to composite/S-Video/component. But I am looking for a free solution, something clever. It could be possible somehow. Maybe some way to retain the headless virtual display and add the TV as a second display. Any ideas?
