Thank you for the information: that should add some extra zip to this machine to load my midi/audio programs: some of the applications load a huge number of virtual instruments audio plug-ins.

What are the part numbers for the RAM I should be ordering from Apple for this machine.?

You should only be ordering from Apple if you are a moron.

it takes PC100 or PC133 168pin 3.3v SDRAM

It has two slots, that is 512MB per slot.

*Edit

It takes the same type of RAM as your Quicksilver. cept the QS is PC133 and the iMac is PC100.. but it can take 133 so go for 133 incase you ever need to put it in a G4 tower later. Saves hassle.

Apple wouldn't stock RAM for a machine of that age anyway. I don't even believe you can order RAM prior to the G5 these days (possibly some very late models of G4).

Thanks guys for the information and also your patience with this old goof.

I'll poke around in my basket of ram sticks i pulled out of my QS'a and MD's i owned and some ram sticks i bought for my 8500 but the installation proved to be impossible for me.

Well, he might have bought 3.3v SDRAM instead of the 5v crazy stuff that the 8500 RAM needs to be. That would make installation not possible in an 8500.

*Edit

Oh yea, I should mention that MDDs use 2.5v 184pin DDR SDRAM and that DDR is not compatible with non-DDR like in the previous G4 towers.
