I was about to explain the same thing Trag stated and agree with him 100%.
1) The ROMs on the 128K to Plus are on sockets. There are no soldered ROMs on the board, you need to be careful when you remove them as to not to bend the pins when you take them out of the sockets.
2) There are 2 sets of these ROMs, one for the 128K/512K Macs and the other for 512Ke and Plus Macs. The differences in the ROMS are major but the newer Mac Plus/512Ke ROMs are backwards compatible to the older 128K/512K Mac ROMs. The differences is in using 400K Drives vs. 800K drives, using the older Systems before 4.2, and being able to access SCSI Hard Drive s (though the 512Ke does not have a SCSI chip to access hard drives, an add-on board with the SCSI chip for the 512Ke is all that is needed to make this possible). Other than that, what differences are there you would not notice, you can still run the older System and software on the "newer" ROMs.
As for this "auction" who ever wins, wins. Lets not fight over it and lets not try to stick to the other, because you two can get stuck with an over-priced dead Mac that might not be worth much of anything. What you two should be doing is discussing in private what parts each other needs and then possibly share in that. Somebody might need an analog board, the other the logic board, a third the cables and CRT Yoke, a forth the CRT itself, a fourth, the front or back casing - you get the idea. So good luck to the winner and see what we can do for each other there. This place is for sharing experience, knowledge and resources, not arguing about who is going to win what auction.
