Macintosh IIfx External FloppyEmu Options

I am using a FloppyEmu with my Mac IIfx internally but was hoping to find a way to maybe port the internal floppy conntector to a back mounted external floppy connector port. Is this possible or has it been done before?

You can get panel mount IEC connectors: my approach here would probably be to either cut a hole in a blanking plate for a slot or to make a new blanking plate, make up an IEC extension cable with a panel mount connector on the far end (or try to find someone to make one for me for money), mount that panel mount connector on my modified blanking plate and call it a day.

This is really a case mod project rather than an electrical one: I'd suggest using a blanking plate to avoid irreversible mods to the case itself, because it's going to require a steady hand to make it look nice, I expect.

Do you happen to know if there is a proper adpter that would work for converting the end of the floppy cable to an external floppy connector end?

If you're using this for the Floppy Emu, then you don't need a standard external floppy connector (DB-19). Just plug the end of the floppy ribbon cable directly into the Floppy Emu board.

Yeah, I wouldn't bother with a DB19 personally. If you want it to look neat, run a ribbon cable out to an IDC panel mount connector (which is what I meant in my last post, even though I typed IEC: I blame the fact I've been thinking about power supplies) on a NuBus blank
