Unix / linux options for a iifx?

Wondering what options work on this computer. I've read in 68k netbsd that the iifx doesn't work because of the iops, but I don't understand why they're needed, why is essential to use the serial ports and floppy, can't it be installed and used without them?

A/UX was Apple's official UNIX solution for these, worth a go if you haven't already tried it.

No idea about NetBSD on one of those, never tried it. May still be worth giving it a go, would be interesting to see what happens?

The IOPs on the IIfx also handle ADB. So without them you can’t have either a local or a serial console.
