Mac SE/30 Power Supplies

I Just received the new Purple ROM Simm and 64 meg of RAM for my newly recapped SE/30,
assuming I did the recap job correctly, I just need to recap or replace the power supply and
the analog board that runs the video. I am wondering about these two power supply replacements?
Currently all I have is the Asante ethernet card, but at some point, I'd like to get a processor upgrade
and possibly one of those internal grayscale cards so I need to be sure I have enough power for all of that.
I'd especially be interested in any comments from people who have actually used these power supplies. Or
If there is another power supply option that I've missed, I'd be interested in knowing about that too.

There is discussion that the original power supplies where rather limited in their output current capabilities, especially for systems that have been substantially expanded. I chose to significantly increase the output current capabilities so ensure ample current under all conditions.

I'm going with the Pico +adapter in the top link version, about to send a 160w pico to the person refurbing my brother's SE 30. It too has had a complete recap and is heavily expanded : 50 Mhz Diimo 030 accelerator and a network card. I have a 120w power brick, the original sony PSU is 100w.
Soo Will let you know how it goes. I got the adapter before the pico so yeah....

I must admit I am biased on this topic, but one of the issues I see with the Pico kit is that it relies on a DC barrel jack for the power input. These are usually rated for 5A max. I’ve seen a few from Switchcraft that are rated for 7.5A, but they are $.

With a 12V input at 5A, that gives a max power of 60W, which comes substantially short of meeting the original PSU specification.

Perhaps the folks at PicoPSU have sourced a high current barrel jack, but even so, you would want a jack rated for 8A+ to meet a 100W power requirement.

These two Power supplies, sort of remind me of each other, the second one with the blue Transformers was designed by a fellow named Dean Bear to replace the crappy little power bricks in the TRS-80 Model I, with expansion interface.

You bet. A number of manufacturers have PCB mount power supply modules. I have preference for Mean Well as they have never let me down and have an intersection of price and quality that’s hard to beat.

I remember looking at that model for a single supply replacement, but its 12V output comes up short for meeting the original current specification. I decided to substantially over spec the output currents to meet needs of those who expand their system.

I was looking at the PDFs for one the Mean Well units you are using, they appear to be more modern switching power modules, where those
blue modules in Dean's TRS-80 supply are just torridally wound transformers, the voltage regulation is simply done by the LM series linear voltage regulators on the TRS 80 main board, but it's a lot nicer and more stable than the old crappy
Power bricks.

Pretty much from what I've seen of the two SE/30 power supplies I've been looking at,
I'm leaning toward getting yours.
