iMac G4 15"

eBay purchase, so not much of a conquest per se, but the unit is in great shape. I thought I was getting the 17" 1GHz, but this is actually the 15" 1GHz. That said, I'm still keeping it because once I dusted it off and cleaned it up, the unit is absolutely pristine except for a hairline crack in the CD door and some barely noticeable scratches on the clear part of the display bezel. The screen has no dead pixels and the backlight is about as even as it gets for these older screens. And, hey, USB 2.0! (the 17" is only 1.1)

This will be the workstation for the front of the house with 10.4.11. Its name is Luxo.

It would. :)

The reason I wanted a G4, though, is because of the industrial design. I think it's an overlooked Ive gem, more of a landmark than the later iMacs, and more functional than, say, the Cube.

*Realizes the title says G4 and not G5* Oh, I would have been talking G4s had I seen that properly. (I think the 15" threw me off while I was writing the post.)

Yeah the iMac G4 is very stylish with it's unique design. :) It'd be cool to get one of those too. I remember the commercial where it was mimicking the faces of the man outside the store window. Lol. At first I thought it looked weird, but now I think it looks cool. And it's kinda sad that we don't see that kind of "uniqueness" in the product lines today. (Epsecially color, I miss the colors of the 5 flavor iMacs. And color from $30 snap-on covers don't count. :p )

You know I was messing with my G4 the other day, for some reason I had the screen pointed up with the base pretty close to the edge of the desk. The position it was it would make it a perfect multitouch desktop. There would be like no fatigue there.
