iMac g3 tray and Wallstreet CPU interchangeable?

What other off-road vehicle names did Apple use for their CPU cards?

I only realised recently that Columbus fits the whole new world thing.

Not sure, I don't think there are more schematics available that would reveal that info, and the PowerBook cards don't have codenames on them.

The iMac cards do, though as "HV-Lite", which makes me curious what the difference is with a non-lite card, which don't seem to have made it to production.

"HV-Lite" might be the only variant made; Apple was like that with names. There wasn't a "Furnishings 1999" after all.

Hi, the 300MHz Wallstreet processor arrived yesterday.

I installed it in the iMac G3 tray, but it didn't work, as we expected. I can't verify the processor either because I don't have a Wallstreet processor, but it's probably due to firmware incompatibility. The iMac G3 tray doesn't seem to have the same modern firmware as the iMac Slot. The Newertech patch can be applied to the Slot to upgrade to 7447/8, but the Tray doesn't recognize the firmware.

I'd like to take this opportunity to ask a question. I have two iMac G3 tray motherboards, and although they look identical, one has ATI Rage Pro and the other ATI Rage Pro Turbo. Is there a difference, or are they the same graphics card with a different name printed on it?

Yep, as we suspected. Interesting that it physically fits.

Different architecture - tray uses Grackle, slot uses Uni-North.

They’re the same. It was a marketing thing.
