Ilitch’s latest project

Hello I have a great project that I just finished up. I finally finished my Mac IIci after buying three of them. Found in a lot of two IIcis was an 040 accelerator with 128kb of cache, A 32 bit video card, and a system void of any major corrosion. I am very proud of the outcome with the project and believe the only thing I am missing is the Ethernet card. I can’t wait to enjoy the computer! I’ll be updating this shortly With more additions to my collection and updates for ongoing projects. 107AE068-8DDB-4828-92E6-2DFDFF0B4101.jpeg434C64DE-83BC-4E21-BEEB-FC4AAC4FB7FC.jpeg

Nice IIci - did you get one working out of three?  I don't mind doing the old Frankenstein Mac getting a pristine unit out of a couple, and almost invariably the second or third machine often comes out pretty good too with enough parts to keep things running!

Thanks! Sorta, for the most part all three sorta worked I didn't swap any electronic components except for the 040 card. I have one that had a nicer case, but doesn't have any sound. One that was badly corroded that was partially repaired by the previous owner that sometimes get a sad mac and refuses to boot with any NUBUS cards inserted, and the last one with patchy yellowing and a functional logic board. So I Merged the best parts together to make one perfect one. The other two work, but have issues. I am planning to sell them to recuperate some funds for my next project. I am just excited to use my portrait display on a IIci with it's own card! If anyone is interested in a recapped IIci send me a message, like I said, one doesn't have any sound, the other cannot use any nubus cards. I'll make a more formal post in the marketplace tomorrow when I have time

I'm a big fan of the rule of 3. I also end up with a 9+/10 machine, a 7-/10, and a box of parts at the end :)   Plus three of anything together seems to be when it starts looking impressive like your stack there.

Thank you! I have a new update I got a Mac SE/30 from a member of the forum. After Recapping it, the SE/30. Has been working great. I managed to hop on a few BBSes thanks to the Ethernet card I has and setdate!

I would love to get AUX working but that has been nothing but a nightmare since I lack any SCSI CD drives

I believe there are members here that have been successful installing A/UX from (and to) a SCSI2SD. You just have to write the A/UX image to the SD card and set the device type to CD-ROM I believe. I haven't tried it yet, though. I did try out the ready-made A/UX 3.1.1 SD image from the unix forum here and although it worked, it was slow and when the file system eventually corrupted itself it subsequently stopped working. I'd like to try a clean 2.x install as well as a clean 3.x install and see how it goes.

Mmmmm ... A/UX

Its not just for breakfast anymore.

I was trying to build an A/UX install Zip disk and Jaz disk but stopped to recap my Macs in May.

Yup, it's doable; I did it.  I'm going to try to do a writeup of how Real Soon Now™ (depending on brain function)
