IIgs System Saver

Hi,

I saw many offers on eBay for a IIgs system saver.

What it is exactly and what does it offer that good for the IIgs?

Thanks

It's basically a power bar with a fan in it. The fan (theoretically) draws hot air out of the IIgs' case. Unless you have a lot of expansion cards in your IIgs, it's probably not of much real benefit.

Yeah, I had thought of buying System Savers for my IIe and IIgs, but then decided against it. Though it does have a power strip, I have heard bad things about the fans being ineffective and loud, maybe due to age. GSE-Reactive actually sells an alternative kit for the IIe that uses modern fans to cool the system, I wouldn't be surprised if a similar modern system couldn't be developed to help the IIgs.

Thanks, that answer my question!

just thought that I would post that the one from family here isn't even much more noise than just a faint motor humming in a quiet room so humm maybe its a hit and miss thing?

Well the picture is that of an Apple Fan on the Power supply. These help some by moving the air around in the case. These are a little noisey. A System Saver IIgs says that right on the left side the buttons on the right side. The fan sucks the air straight up. Auxiliary plugs are on the back of the unit. One fan to move the air around inside and one to pull it out works really well if the IIgs is loaded.
