Putting an 040 card in the IIci and it wouldnt boot. no power at all, take the top again and a closer look, all the cans leaking, newly fresh leaking so waiting on caps in the mail.  Hopefully Ill get it going back quick.

I tried a 030 Powercache (socketed) in an SE/30 with old caps. Didn't boot either. Gave me vertical stripes as if the screen was garbled but only vertically.

It still works with its stock CPU but I think Accelerators draw quite A LOT of power and they kill off already bad caps.

Since the 040 is a beast of a machine it obliterated them.

I think your machine will work again with the 040 card with fresh caps. I'll have mine recapped soon.

Let us know how it turns out.

power supply wouldnt come on either.  Since there are caps on the adb and power button line im sure it will work once recapped.  Actually there are alot of caps on the Iici.

I replaced my power supply innards with a new 250w micro ATX power supply.  It was cheap and ridiculously overpowered compared to the original, but it allows me to throw absolutely anything at it, including hitherto not done three simultaneous Radius Rockets. :D

Because it loses the soft power option, I bought one of these from Sophisticated Circuits: http://www.sophisticated.com/products/powerkey/pk_classic.html

They still sell them, brand new. :D  It's a smart ADB surge protector that will turn on/off the power when you hit the power key from the keyboard.  It's also great for LCs and other vintage Macs that don't automatically turn on or off.
