The 9.2.2 in MDD's is not machine-specific. In fact I use the same installation on iMac G4 700, iMac G3 500, Sawtoth G4 500 and Sawtoth G4 2000 (7448).

The MDD can even start up whith 9.2.1 and whith ROM lower than 10.2 from a HD connected to ATA 66 or firewire.

The MDD 9.2.2 is newer (CPU software 5. 8) than the eMac 800 (CPU software 5.7).

Furdermore, the ROM 10.2 fully include the mitical custer ROM.

Sorry for my bad English.

I could believe the 9.2.1 booting from a non-internal device, but that makes it considerably less useful.

However, it's no surprise the MDD disc boots other machines, because its ROM will support all prior models. It's just that you can't boot an MDD from anything but its own version of 9.2.2 or later (including the eMac CD), extraordinary configurations notwithstanding. :p
