I really need to do some cleaning…

I’ve not been well for a while and I just finally felt like I had the energy to come out to my workshop to get some projects done.. I mean clearly I knew how messy it was last time I was in.. but I was rather taken back by how bad it was with fresh eyes.

Very envious of some of your toys. I've sadly not got a reasonable scope, which can be frustrating. I use a DSO mini thing and a frequency counter for most things, which sometimes makes troubleshooting more hard going.

Don't spend too long tidying. Spend half the time you plan to and then do something fun.

Tbh the scope is sitting there as a project for another time.. it came with a pile of machines as working (interestingly it has a label on the side saying it was calibrated in 2018 so can’t have been long out of use, and also has a not y2k compliant label too ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) but I’m not super familiar with using one. I mean I used one similar to this back in school in like 1995.. but waaaay too long ago to remember.

I do actually have another identical unit I’d be happy to send to you (or bring to the meet up if it happens) but it has no calibration labels or anything on it and a few knobs have been a bit bent

This looks an awful lot like my workspace when halfway through a project or eight. It’s only a bad thing when it starts to depress or overstimulate you or makes you feel like things are out of control, then it is time to tidy

Also yes, was going to say that that is a handsome scope you have there!

That would be awesomely awesome :) let me know what you'd want for it.

I have no idea if it’s actually working properly so you can have it for free! I’d love to learn how to use them properly so maybe sometime you can give me some advice

Yeah that’s the problem, and it has caused me some mental drain lately. I don’t think I’d even really consciously realised how bad it was until now. I’m currently trying to finish off the projects I have going then once done I’m gonna just gut the place and get some things sorted out that have needed doing for ages!

I think starting off with putting some machines back together, even if they don’t work or aren’t finished, would be a good place to start because that’ll free up much needed work/desk space?

I know I can’t focus on anything if stuff is in pieces everywhere, and I get really overwhelmed if stuff isn’t put away.

Whatever you decide, best of luck with it and I’m sure things will only improve. You’ve got some cool stuff there.

When I had an actual workshop space (I don't now since I'm between houses currently), there were times when it was actually quite a bit worse than yours....

My Duo looks just like yours! I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better. Life became busy just as I was trying to round the corner on my 2300c project. Now I have to remember where I left off.

Looks fun yet daunting at the same time! Am also in the Duo 2300c restoration club - in pieces in workshop - chimes but no video, worked fine 12 months ago. Recap first in that dense little corner of them. There is an extra 33uF 35V cap not noted

@Durosity wishing you the best with your health and hope for continued energy to work on the things you enjoy.

Although obviously messy, love the picture. My workshop always seems to get back to a similar state 🤓
