i need a new router

the dlink is bad what would be a good recomendation for my ibook wireless and g4 qicksilver, cube, blue and white wired

Netgear Wireless G. model WGR614 v9. My clamshell iBook G3 with an original Airport card connects to it just fine when set to transmit both "b" and "g."

Dlink suck - I have wasted many hours trying to configure that equipment: routers, access points, you name it. It's just flaky, you do the same thing over and over and over, even call tech support and they tell you what you are doing is correct.....and then finally (maybe) the sh*t starts working properly. I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever (get the picture?) never ever buy Dlink.

Netgear rocks - a WRT54G is a great router, however check for other models if you want N wireless (as well as B/G)

I have been satisfied with my Netgear Range Max Wireless router model WNDR3300 which also broadcasts 11G and 11N for compatibility.

The interesting thing was that the signal got better after 2 days of use and my mini gets full signal on the opposite side of the house now vs the westell router that came with our old internet connection which barley showed up on the signal meter. RangeMax rocks :lol:

The lights can get a little annoying don't put it in the same room you sleep

The early models of the wrt54g are amazing routers, esp when running tomato firmware, which is based of the linksys stuff but lighter with a better UI.

I had good luck with AirLink routers. I had to setup 5 of them in a building using different setups (channels, IPs and other stuff, 2 for guest, 3 for the business) and they all worked wonderfully. I don't remember the models I set up, but I had 802.11a/b/g routers. Never heard a complaint and I have also heard that they never needed a restart.

They must be good I guess... The last thing you can do, is go buy a cheapo Airport (old version or whatever is cheapest) that would be a 11b model. mainly because the internet gateway is probably no faster than that, and if you want speed, hook up through ethernet

So armed with this great info, I go to a local Goodwill store on a hunting expedition (actually I was looking for battery packs), and find a Linksys wireless router priced at at $5.99. One of those fancy two antenna jobs for diversity. Picking it up to check the model number, I discover it is one that will not work with anyone's computers: the official Linksys label on the bottom says: Display Unit-Non Functional. Even if you think you recognize the unit, it is good to check! [] ]'>
